TRANSCRIPTION / WRITTEN ARTICLE

Hello, everyone! This is Tanner here reviewing another article from the goatskin selection. So we have suede in front of us. This is a gorgeous article. I love suede. The touch of suede is always something else. It just makes you want to touch more. This is a finely executed suede as you can see. It has a writing effect on it. This is a beautiful, good, dark black option. It’s fairly soft and it’s slightly stiffer than the other goat selection we reviewed before. But this is good for statement pieces.

The suede is harder to keep clean, especially the black one. It catches dust very quickly. This is not a piece that you might want to use on designs that are going to be used and worn a lot, but this is a specialty item. You can make a glove out of it. It just looks gorgeous but you can’t simply wear it everywhere and do everything with it. It’s harder to keep it clean and maintain, but it’s beautiful.

The weight of this is about two to three ounces (1.2mm - 1.3mm in thickness). It can be split down into softer versions. I think the buffing on the back of this (which is normally the grain side) is slightly less. Maybe that’s where the stiffness is coming from, but this can be arranged if you’re looking for a softer option. We can go thinner on the less weight and make it a little softer.

People make garments out of this. They make this as glove material. They even make some inner lining for sensitive cases. If you’re making a fancy watch case, this can be a perfect lining touch to your precious watches or jewelry. That’s not going to hurt them. Actually, it will just touch and pet them as they sit in it. As you see, this is pleasant to touch and feel.

The color consistency across the leather is pretty good. This is actually a metric we look at in suede production. Different sections of the leather are very, very close to each other. We do this because once we get a piece from the different parts of the leather and they come together in your design, the color consistency should match pretty closely. This can be an issue sometimes in suede leathers.

A third color option is the– I would say, this is a mahogany brown. And this is actually softer. Again, this is because the buffing on the back is slightly harsher which gets rid of the strong grain side and makes the leather super soft. As you see, this is going much smaller.

Any color is possible again with these, too. The price range goes from $5 a foot. Maybe $6 on some articles. The pieces are usually about 4 to 5 square feet on average, the goat skins. We’re going to make this available in Tannerstein very soon. If you’re interested in using any of these, please let us know so we know what colors to bring in small batches, and let you know as soon as they’re available. Happy crafting!
