When evaluating craftsmanship, Thaden’s Whole Bag stands tall among artisanal creations. The stitching appears hand-done, particularly where the bottom meets the body — an extremely challenging area in leatherwork.

However, small details like faint smudges on the hardware and minor imperfections in the edge painting slightly affect the overall score. These are easy fixes but worth noting for a brand that’s clearly reaching for perfection.

The outer leather looks and feels like semi-aniline Nappa — smooth, soft, and supple. However, on closer inspection, I found small finish marks and light buffing that indicate some surface correction. This means it’s top-grain rather than full-grain — not the very highest grade available.

The inner lining, on the other hand, uses fine lambskin with a beautifully clean finish — arguably better than the exterior. For a piece this artistic, I’d love to see the same level of excellence reflected in the leather choice next time.
